Plotting (x,y) coordinates
Scale & Finding Area with Fractions
Multiplying Fractions (to find area)
Multiplication and Division of Money (calculating costs and profit)
Creating Fractions to Represent Candy Categories
Optional: Candy Grab Bags Activity (Converting between fraction, decimal, and percent)
This project-based learning activity is VERY HIGH INTEREST and spans 1-2 weeks. Students will answer the driving question: What Math skills do I need to create and run a business? It's Common Core aligned for Grade 5 and can be differentiated for many different ability levels.
This resource includes directions on what to do before beginning, connections to other subjects, technology integration, discussion points, and the math process.
